Like all our Lip Balms, we made our SPF 15 Balm to be edible as well as moisturizing and conditioning for the skin. We all want soft and healthy lips without having to eat petroleum jelly or UV Filters. We use Zinc Oxide for natural, physical sun protection, along with some natural moisturizing oils to make this one of the most natural SPF lip balms ever. So go and enjoy the sun.

Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Zinc Oxide (For Sun Protection), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Seed Extract, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Fragrance - Strawberry (Phthalate-free), Glyceryl Isostearate (Emollient), Allantoin, Polyhydroxystearic Acid (Emulsifier).
Because we make our products for our families, we have a strict ingredient philosophy that excludes ingredients like Parabens, Phenoxyethanol and penetration enhancers.

What ingredients do you avoid when making a lip balm?
There's lots of things you won't find in these lip balms (or any of our other products) because they were all formulated for family members and close friends. This includes Paraffin and Mineral Oil which derive from petroleum, but are commonly found in most commercial lip products. We don’t think putting the stuff that goes into our cars on our lips is the healthiest thing we can do, especially when everything on the lips eventually gets eaten.
We also don’t use any synthetic preservatives such as Parabens and Phenoxyethanol, although they're pretty common too, including with a few brands that claim to be natural (you know who you are!). We avoid a lot of other things too, way too many to list here.

Sweet Almond Oil
Sweet Almond Oil is extracted from almond kernels and is nourishing to irritated and dry skin. It’s high in minerals and vitamins, and the types of fatty acids needed to help repair troubled skin.
Zinc Oxide (Clear Zinc)
Zinc oxide is a naturally occurring mineral that is effective in sun protection because it doesn’t break down on the skin or dissolve in water. Instead it sits on the surface of the skin and reflects UVA and UVB radiation like a mirror.
Shea Butter
The natural complex fat extracted from the nuts of the Shea Tree, and one of the most intense moisturizing ingredients available. The traditional use of the butter is to reduce the appearance of fine lines, scars and stretch marks, and to ease a variety of skin irritations.
Jojoba Seed Oil
Jojoba Oil is extracted from jojoba seeds and is one of our all-time favourite oils to use. While it is actually a liquid wax, it is non-comedogenic (it does not clog the pores), extremely moisturizing, light and sinks into the skin easily.
Raspberry Seed Oil
A natural oil that is extracted from the seeds of the raspberry fruit. It is rich in fatty acids and is known for its moisturizing and skin-calming effects.

My 10 year old son's face, all around his mouth, going up his cheeks, around his nostril etc, was RED, inflamed, and sore looking. He has eczema, and on his most recent flare up he had 2 tiny patches under his bottom lip, and 1 above his top lip. He also had itchy red patches inside both elbows, one inner wrist, and 1 hand.
As anyone with eczema will know, the GPs provide steroid cream, and emollient. I've used the prescribed items for years on my son, whilst also trying various other creams on him. Without success.
Some made no difference, others caused a reaction. Despite me researching and researching and researching for creams, and reading countless reviews, and researching all sorts of ingredients etc. Eventually the steroid cream would work, but not for too long before he had another flare up.
Anyway, following his most recent flare up I noticed the small mouth patches growing in size and severity whilst using the steroid cream and emollient. This is when I deepened my research into GP prescribed lotions and potions, and read some horror stories of people's skin while using steroids cream. I'd already decided to stop using the emollient, due to it being basically pure paraffin and flammable! No thanks. By this point my son's beautiful face was just covered in a bright red sore looking 'patch'. It was really too big to be called a patch, as it's pretty much the whole of his lower face.
