Got hands or hooves so dry that they crack? We made this delicious butter balm for a few close friends who had skin in need of some extra attention and serious thirst quenching. For times like these a normal moisturizer just won’t cut it. Learn to love those extra dry areas such as hands, knees, heels and elbows that always seem to be a little rougher than the rest.
Shea Butter is one of the most intense moisturizing ingredients around, however, on its own it’s too hard to apply to the skin. We mixed in some other hydrating and healing ingredients to help make it easier to rub in to deliver the moisture to where it’s needed most. We even added in a yummy scent so it smells like lime sorbet. Now all you have to do is try not to drool on yourself when using it. Also doubles as a yummy lip balm.
My Shea Sorbet is hard. What’s the best way to apply it?
At room temperature, Shea Sorbet is solid, and can be a bit harder in the winter. The best way to apply it is to rub a small chunk of the balm in between hands to warm it up to body temperature and then generously apply to your rough spots and allow to soak in overnight. If treating really crusty hooves, apply and cover with socks to help lock in that extra moisture.
What ingredients do you avoid when making a butter balm?
There's lots of things you won't find in this cream (or any of our other products) because they were all formulated for family members and close friends. This includes Paraffin and Mineral Oil which derive from petroleum, but are commonly found in commercial moisturizers like Sorbolene. We don’t think putting the stuff that goes into our cars on our skin is the healthiest thing we can do.
We also don’t use any synthetic preservatives such as Parabens and Phenoxyethanol, although they're pretty commonly found, including with a few brands that claim to be natural (you know who you are!). We avoid a lot of other things too, way too many to list here. We also don't use any useless, trendy ingredients like stem cells from Swiss apples or super power jellyfish DNA, just natural, effective ingredients for healthy skin.
Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Cannibis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil, Piroctone Olamine (Olamine Salt), Allantoin (Comfrey Root Extract), Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Natural Vanilla Fragrance.
We show all the ingredients on our website, not just the pretty ones. That way you can see why we chose them and get in touch if you have any more questions.
